2019 Lancashire Tourism Awards at Blackpool Pleasure Beach Arena.

On Thursday 7 November, at the world-famous Pleasure Beach Arena, Blackpool we were delighted to be presented with the award for Self Catering Accommodation 2019 at Lancashire’s annual Lancashire Tourism Awards, supported by Headline Sponsor, University of Central Lancashire and Host Sponsor VisitBlackpool.

Blackpool-born professional ice-skater Daniel Whiston was guest presenter and entertained the audience, gliding through the twenty-two awards with great style.

As our British summertime draws to a close what is going on around the area? Well, quite a lot! As we live on site we can usually point you in the right direction when it comes to days out however, we have compiled a little list below of what is on this season.

The Illuminations at Blackpool have now been switched on and anticipating spectators. There is also the weekly firework displays for the Firework competion in Blackpool which we can actually see distantly from the cottages. 13-22 September is the Heritage Open days in Lancaster which are a range of events celebrating heritage and culture. For more information please visit www.heritageopendays.org.uk

22-29th September there is the ‘Foodie Foray’ which celebrates the Forest of Bowland’s natural food larder and incorporates walking and foraging www.forestofbowland.com/foodie-foray

23rd November-5th January Lancaster on Ice is a 6 week Ice rink and winter wonderland in the heart of the city centre. Dalton Square, Lancaster. www.lancasteronice.co.uk

If you are looking for some festive fun then look no further than our very own Garstang Town Centre on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th December from 6-9pm. The town hosts its Victorian Christmas festival with live music, stalls, food, Santa’s grotto, rides and late night shopping. It is a really fantastic couple of nights.

Or why not look at the West Lancashire Light Railway Santa Special where children can meet Santa and receive a present! Free mulled wine and mince pies for adults. Please be aware booking is essential, visit their site for more details www.westlancsrailway.org
